His research interests involve the application of remote sensing and GIS technology for coastal zone management and, the design and implementation of spatial databases. Recent research topics include:

  • Bathymetry and substrate type estimation in coastal lagoons through the processing of multispectral imagery,
  • Study of the spawning areas of the northern anchovy in the Gulf of California using satellite images of sea surface temperature (SST).
  • Yellow fin tuna fisheries associated with dolphins and its relation to SST
  • Landscape characterization and change detection through analysis of multitemporal multispectral imagery (LANDSAT MSS)
  • Spatial database design and implementation with internet interfaces
  • Multispectral high resolution (MASTER instrument) airborne for coastal zone management applications
